Nursing

With a new, top-tier learning facility now under construction at our Niceville campus, the nursing program is expanding. We look forward to growing our program, with enrollment doubling by 2026. We have consistently had a waitlist for our highly regarded program and anticipate our program will remain competitive as we grow.

A Range of
In-Demand Careers

Career-eager students can begin working after just two months as a certified nursing assistant and after two years as a registered nurse. After five semesters and with an associate of nursing degree in hand, many students choose to work full time while continuing their studies at NWFSC to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This prepares them for graduate studies, entering the military nurse corps, or a management position.

Nurses have a range of career options. When it’s time to shake up the routine, a nurse can switch to pediatrics, geriatric, pulmonary, cardio, emergency room or more — including going back to school, this time as a teacher.

Our Students
Are Prepared

Through our robust virtual reality program with our partner Xennial, students can become immersed in patient care before ever practicing in a hospital. They can practice skills such as assessing patients, communicating therapeutically with patients and administering medication. As they progress, students will experience simulations for mental health, obstetrics, pediatrics and medically complex patients. Virtual reality offers a safe place to make mistakes, understand the consequences of your choices, and learn to be an expert health care practitioner.

Nursing studies are challenging, but NWFSC students leave well prepared. The NCLEX-RN is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses and must be passed before being licensed to practice nursing in the United States and Canada. NWFSC students have enjoyed a phenomenal pass rate — sometimes 100 percent.

A Unique Guarantee

Students enrolled in Northwest Florida State College’s nursing program are now guaranteed their money back — a full refund of all tuition costs — if they are unable to find a job in the related field within six months of graduation. Students must be enrolled full-time at NWFSC to be eligible for the Money-Back Guarantee Program and must agree to participate in an internship or work-study program as applicable to their major.
