Radiography

Radiography is the art and science of using radiation to provide images of the tissues, organs, bones, and vessels that comprise the human body. Radiologic technologists play a crucial role in emergency rooms, oncology departments, sports medicine facilities and more, helping to promote timely treatment and swift recovery.

A Range of
In-Demand Careers

Earning an associate degree in radiography serves as the first step in a range of radiography careers. With some on-the-job training, our graduates often perform Mammography, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Graduates may be eligible to continue their education in fields such as Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine.

Some students choose radiography because it allows them to work directly with patients while minimizing the extent of continued bedside care and the associated liability concerns of other healthcare roles. This balance makes radiography an attractive career choice for those who wish to contribute to patient care in a significant but less intensive manner.

Our Students
Are Prepared

NWFSC’s radiography program, which is housed on our Fort Walton Beach campus, is affordable and known throughout Florida and beyond for the quality of its education and smaller class sizes. Facilities actively recruit NWFSC graduates. Admission is competitive.

Before they can practice, graduates must earn certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). NWFSC has a five-year 93 percent pass rate for the ARRT certification examination.

A Unique Guarantee

Students enrolled in Northwest Florida State College’s radiography program are now guaranteed their money back — a full refund of all tuition costs — if they are unable to find a job in the related field within six months of graduation. Students must be enrolled full-time at NWFSC to be eligible for the Money-Back Guarantee program and must agree to participate in an internship or work-study program as applicable to their major.
